What will you use for minions?

I hope Fiery Dragon or another company puts out a 4th Edition set of creature counters. Those are what we use currently, and we couldn't be happier. (Well, actually we could. Do we really need this many owls? Are they some kind of major monster in your games?)

I picked up the customizable print-your-own Disposable Heroes from Precis Intermedia. You can print sheets of selected figures with numbers and labels. Now I've got an endless minion supply.

Starbursts! They come in 1 inch squares and individually wrapped in various colors.

People can eat them after they kill em.

Perfect if your main goal is to get your Wizard jittery and unfocused with a sugar rush.

Medium Astral Constructs from GoL. I plan to use them for all minions so that way my players won't be confused as to which mini is a real monster and which is a 1 hp wonder.

Ok, those are awesome. If I can find some nice cardstock after work tonight I'm using these.
Well, I read some folks use cheap vinyl tile as backing. [tile stores, hardware stores and some dollar stores carry them in 3 packs.] Each 1' square piece has a self stick back. simply peel the backing and attach a colour printed counter set. Use a box cutter to then slice the tile into counters.

auggies should still have the changling rogue in bulk. That fig is priceless as a faceless mook.

Just buy a cheap plastic Chess set with bigger pieces?

Use black pieces.

Pawns= Minions

Knights = Lurkers/Rogues

Bishops = Artillery/Controllers

Rooks = Soldiers/Brutes/Defenders

Queen = Either second most powerful creature, or Boss Spellcaster Type

King = Most powerful creature, or Boss Physical Threat Type

Can be subbed in whenever necessary. Especially for minions, which are going down in one hit anyway, so it's not a horrible thing if they're represented by a dumb pawn.

For a starter mini set, white pieces can sub in for all the pcs (Rooks = Defenders, Knights = Rogues, Bishops = Clerics, King = Warlord, Queen = Warlock/Wizard, etc.)
