What would be your be all end all roleplaying game?

Impossible to answer. For me, there cannot be "one system". There are two distinct genres - fantasy and modern/futuristic (with, of course, a mess of hybrids - but still only two overall archtypes). One system can't handle both well.

I am very happy with d20 for fantasy, and FUZION for the futuristic genre.

One system to rule them all

The elves played 3
The dwarves played 5
The humans played 9

They were all duped--
One game, one game to rule them all!!!

Sorry had to be done:rolleyes:

Ain't no such thing. Might as well ask me what one author would make me give up all other books...

No one game does everything well. There's no one genre or type of game that strikes me so strongly that I'd then abandon all other types of games and refuse to play them.

BigFreekinGoblinoid muttered:
I'd "plotz my pluggy" for Barsoom
Click on the link in my sig. Can I plotz your pluggy?

Heh. Okay, so, no John Carter, not ACTUALLY Barsoom (though that could devolve to an interesting metaphysical debate on the actuality of imaginary worlds), and not in fact a d20 book, but, um, the word Barsoom gets used.

I really want to plotz your pluggy.
Fenros howled and gibbered:
"One that would turn the heads of beautiful women when I mention it aloud."
That's brilliant. I say so. I am chuckling even as I type.

The ultimate game system for me is d20. Shrug. It's good enough. It does the things I want to do well enough for me to have fun doing them.

Right now, my be-all-and-end-all RPG would be something like GURPS Mutants, Masterminds, Dungeons, & Dragons. How one might actually create such a thing -- and have it be the BA&EA it should be -- is beyond me.

And, in any case, in a few weeks, days, hours, or minutes, my BA&EA RPG will probably change. :D

If I.C.E. rose from their grave and re-vamped their 2nd edition Rolemaster system, I'd be pretty darn happy.

Umm...ICE rose from their grave some time ago. We've already seen a handful of products....Fire & Ice; The Armory; The Vehicle Manual; Blaster Law; and a Races & Cultures book for SpaceMaster...with more to come in the new year.

I'd actually have to say the D20 system. Since it basically revolves around the simple mechanic of rolling a D20 and adding stuff, and then checking against another number, its simple enough to be applied to anything, and flexible in terms what you are adding to the roll, whether it be skills ranks, base attack, and ability bonus, or something completly different.
