I was torn between what I want and what I think will happen. But I don't know. Honestly, Miko becoming a blackguard might well cause me to quit reading the strip as much as I thoroughly enjoy it.
I mean, if I want to see evil get the better of people, I'll go outside into the real world. Or else I'll open a newspaper or turn on the television and watch the news.
I know what people are going to say ... that if there isn't a possibility of bad things happening then the game isn't real. But I don't game to experience real life. I game to get something real life doesn't often give: a happy ending and something that when I go to sleep I can think positively about. I just hope Rich thinks long and hard about what he's doing.
And, I know I'm in the minority with this opinion. But I don't care. That's how I feel about gaming. I don't need to watch evil get the best of people when I game. I don't need too much real life in my OotS, either.
Sure, evil can challenge and make a showing (like LotR), but in the end I want the ring destroyed. I want Tanis Half-elven to save the day. And I want Miko to admit what she did was wrong and be forgiven and rise to a newer height of glory than she ever could have gone without understanding her major character flaw.
Edit: And, for what it is worth, I don't agree with the "humor" tag used for this thread. I don't think OotS has been particularily humorous in the past two strips. Rich's tenor has changed. But that's just me!
