I'm going to pick one up and was curious about thoughts. Poll to follow.

Reasoning behind the choice would be appreciated.

Changeling isn't out yet, but I think it's the best. I've read some of the book and played it twice. I talked about it some with Matt Macfaland who wrote part of it and had him be my Storyteller., It was a lot of fun and really invokes a different type of horror and enjoyment then the other games.

Second is still the mortal game, then promethius, vampire, mage, and werewolf. They are all pretty good though and I have them all :D

With the nWoD, I'd have to rank them:

#1 Werewolf- where the old Werewolf was a little too epic, this is a more personal game, and the Pure tribes bring a whole new dimension to it. Plus the werewolves are seen by the spirit world as traitors, so it puts an odd spin on things.

#2 Mortals- this is the first time mortals have been a viable choice for a game, and it plays very well.

#3 Promethean- weird and cool, how created beings would see the WoD. I'm not sure how well it would work long-term, but it would be great for a short campaign.

#4 Vampire- vampire society and interaction is more interesting now, but I do miss some of the old bloodlines like the Tzimiche. Very well done, but a little too similar to the old Vampire to get a high rating.

#5 Mage- its well done and has some decent concepts, but Mage never has grabbed me as much as some of the other lines have.

Changling looks good so far from what I've read- a BIG improvement over the original. The original Changling was too light-hearted to fit well in the WoD, but the new one sounds darker and more in line with the world. I'm hoping the new Changling resembles the Dark Ages: Fae book that came out a few years ago.

I never was a vampire fan -- I just can't get into Anne Rice knock-off whining leeches with legs...

But Mage ... I liked the first version, though it needed some severe tweeking to work. I am utterly loving this new version. It is great!

Of course, I have not seen the new version of Changeling yet, so I feel that I am still open to changing my mind... ;)

The new Mage, unfortunately, lost much of what the old game good, and replaced with... well, stuff I don't like. There are some good bits in the rules, but I feel like I'd have to do some hefty rewriting before I actually liked it.

The new Werewolf rules do look somewhat more interesting than the old ones were.

Vampire... Well I have never cared much for the general concept, so new or old makes no difference to me.

I have not yet seen Promethean or Changeling.

And, across all the games, I think it would take a very good GM to get me to like playing under the morality system they have in place.

Changeling - can't really judge. It isn't out, I've just read a bunch of previews... I like what I see so far, will pick up the game, but can't comment right now.

The mechanics of the new Mage are better, but the background is bland. I used Mage's frame and replaced the orders with Nephilim's Major and Minor Arcana. Little impact on the mechanics, great benefit on the background side of things.

Werewolf is more generic now than its oWoD version. It's a good game when you like dark yet heroic games with a touch of shamanism and lovecraftian weirdness for good measure.

Playing a WoD Mortals game can be great fun, but I don't especially feel like it's original. Chill, Call of Cthulhu/Delta Green, d20 Modern... there are many ways to do this. Is it the best option for a mortals' game? Depends on the type of game you want, I guess. Now, using WoD mechanics with Delta Green... that could be great!

Now, my real two favorites are Vampire and Promethean. They are very different games, though. For the social, political aspect of things, with schemes behind the schemes, treachery, twists and turns, urban chronicles, it's Vampire. For chronicles more centered around the PCs as a group, the notion of the PCs' evolution and possible redemption, a feel of alchemical quest to understand what it means to be human, it's Promethean. Both are outstanding games, for very different reasons.

Just for the sheer originality of the game concepts, if I had to choose between these two, I'd choose Promethean, I think.

IMHO Mage the Awakening is an amazing game with an incredible amount of rich fluff that runs the spectrum and encompasses wonder, horror, and mystery from a personal gritty level all the way through to awesomely epic. I'm so stoked about it that I've been working on a campaign for 2 months now even though I dont have any players who want to join in. I'll probably have to find a pbp site for it.

After Mage, I would say Werewolf, Promethean and then Vampire. The mortal game is just not my cup of tea, and I haven't seen Changeling so I'll have to pass on that one.

The biggest challenge that these games have to hurdle are their association by default with the oWoD games. nMage isn't oMage and really shouldn't be compared to one another. I LOVE oMage and its one of my all time favorites. But once I shifted my paradigm and stopped trying to look for oMage elements in the nMage game, I came to realize just how much of a good game it is all on its own.

Werewolf is my favorite, always has been and always will be. Promethean shocked me and is my second. I think Changeling will be a very close third.

WoD + Second Sight ftw.

Heh. Only because that's my experience so far. :D

Played smooth and cinematic enough, was actually pretty damn dangerous, and didn't tread on anyone's toes too much, as I felt oWoD tended to at times.

I haven't been very keen on trying W:tF, V:tR, M:tAw, Promethean the whatever, Chengeling 3.0a (despite initially being curious), Scion the uh something, or um. . . is that it? Yeah, those.

Too busy with other things, I guess. Also, old Werewolf house-ruled would do fine, if it came to that. Likewise Vampire. Mage was always a bit meh, for me anyway. And well, the other things just don't grab me.
