From Aarakocra to Zuggtmoy! Anywhere from 5 to 26 letters (here's looking at you Tuna-Of-The-Eternal-Waters). You can do themed months in the run up to a product release. Tie it to the WotC site to get people checking in every day. Crossover with DnDBeyond to get free inspiration rolls or experience points whenever you finish the daily word. We'll be bathing in diamond dust in no time.

D&D + Final Fantasy XIV = $$$

FFXIV is one of the few major MMOs experiencing active, sustained growth. It's beloved for its story and has tons of market exposure. The Final Fantasy series is already heavily D&D-like as it is, so there would be less need for massive adaptation. Square Enix has big pockets, and is pretty clearly interested in raising awareness for FFXIV, given the massive advertising push they put out for the Shadowbringers expansion. Plus, it's very clear that the dev team includes people who play D&D and other tabletop games.

I legitimately do not see how this wouldn't be a huge money-maker for WotC. There's a TON of fan goodwill from FFXIV that can be tapped into, and the game is currently going through its boom times. At the very absolute least, you could drive up sales/interactions/etc. with D&D products by working on some kind of collaboration or in-game event, since FFXIV loves its crossover stuff (having crossover events/content for FFXI, FFXV, Dragon Quest X, Yo-Kai Watch, Garo, Monster Hunter World, and Nier Automata.)

Oh I do. They would make a ton of money, and then they would hand it all over to Square Enix.

Rumor has it that S/E is incredibly, unreasonably protective of their IP and permission to use anything they make is rarely given...and in the rare cases that it is, it is locked behind restrictive license agreements that cost so much that it's no longer profitable.

Which is really a shame. The Final Fantasy franchise practically begs to be adapted to D&D, and it would be amazing if both companies could strike a deal that would work out to be profitable for both. But alas, we have to settle for Almost Final Fantasy.

So many options but they always stop at "D&D" and wind up making a generic fantasy adventure with a few D&D trappings tossed over it.
