whats your favorite stat, if you had all 13's and 1 18, where would the 18 go?

Your favorite stat: If you had 1 18 and the rest all 13's where would you put the 18.

I voted for DEX. I love playing dexterous rogues, wizards, fighters ...

Then again, it's probably because IRL I'm a long way from being superbly dexterous! :)

Funny thing is, though, I always seem to roll attrociously for initiative.

I haven't read a single response, but I voted for Charisma. In terms of what most of us, normal people want in life, this is the stat that is the most important. A high Charisma opens doors in ways no other stat can. A high Charisma would make you walk in the halls of power without even trying, or have the 'hottest' girl/guy on the block want to meet you.

Charisma is not an adventurer's stat per se, but it (probably is) the lowest common denominator in lives both fantastic and real.

Of course, it weould depend on the typoe of character being created. For this poll, I picked Con beacue it's good for any class. Plus, with everything else being 13, the prime requisite can be boosted as the character progresses.

Of course it depends on what class I'm itching to play, but I always have to have decent to high dex (I love the sneaky/quick fighter/rogue types), so I voted Dex.

Well, since I prefer to play wizards, that 18 has only one spot where it belongs, Int. With every other score a 13 it doesn't matter where I put the rest. Int highest boosts the DCs for my spells more, gives me more bonus spells, and access to 8th level spells (eventually anyway) right from the start. The extra skill points are a nice bonus, but not something I worry about too much.

I'm surprised Cha came in third! The popularity of those power-gaming sorcs is growing by leaps and bounds!

Constitution.

And actually, it wouldn't have anything to do with my personal class preference. Con is my number one priority as a:

IME, Con often seems to be a number 2 priority. Most people seem to put the highest in the main ability score for the class, then boost Con next for survival.

That's why most people lose more characters than I do. ;)

Dexterity and Wisdom are high priority for all my chracter builds (though not necessarily the highest) they contribute to Initiative, Saves, AC bonus and a whole range of useful skills.

I voted Int....one simple reason. Out of all the stats it is the only one that is not retro-active when changed. You raise your Con you get the extra hit points and save. You raise Str you get the better bonus to hit and damage. Raising Dex gets you the better save, AC and Ranged to hit. Raised wisdom gets you better saves. Raised Chr doesn't do anything except skills unless you are a Chr Spellcaster or Paladin.

As long as you survive you can get buffs, items, and attribute increases to slowly overcome the other lower stats, but you will never regain the lost skill points you missed for having a low INT.

Can I drop my Charisma down to a 4 in exchange for raising one of the 13s to a 16? Because whether I go brainy spellmonkey, brainy skillmonkey, or multiclass brainy spellmonkey/ brainy skillmonkey I really need a 16 Dex to back up my 18 Int. And as a genius monkey, I really don't care what mere people think about me.
