Whats your most unusual Magic Weapon

The Sword of Dreams
This wooden greatsword, carved roughly and sharply with a handle wrapped in leather, was driven into the physical incarnation of Indomitability, pinning it to the bottom of a lake in the middle of the Innenotdar Fire Forest. Somehow the blade's wooden nature allowed it to absorb some of the essence of Indomitability, and, combined with its natural powers to grow stronger as its wielder's skill increased, the sword is able to gain aspects of the incarnations it defeats. These incarnations, manifested from the nightmares of the Mother of Dreams, all represent some normally intangible concept, and all possess great psychic energy.

The Sword of Dreams, as its current bearer Rantle has named it, has either fought or defeated three dreams so far -- Indomitability, Agony, and Deception. It is currently a +2 greatsword, with the following powers.

  • Because of the fire energy that surrounded Indomitability for so long, the Sword of Dreams can burn with flames without being damaged. If it has been placed in flames in the past minute, and it scores a critical hit, the blade becomes a flaming burst greatsword for the next minute.
  • It also absorbed an aspect of Agony. Whenever the Sword of Dreams scores a critical hit, in addition to its normal damage, it deals damage to the target equal to how much damage that target has dealt to the wielder this round.
  • From Deception, the blade grants its wielder the Improved Feint feat.

A Longsword made of magically reinforced glass, colored Red, with veins of black running through it. It was a +4 fire sword. 2x per day, it is able to cast a flame jet at 8d6 (as per flame strike, only horizontal). 4x per day, on command as a free action, the blade will flicker and flames would lick its edges and it would be able to at 2d4 fire damage to a succesful hit.

Okay so every man and his awakened dog has a +1 Sword of Buttkicking

but where are the flaming burst shuriken, the Hammers' of Thor or the Assasins Kukri?

What cool unique/unusual weapon enchantments have you created for the game??

Well there is the Rod of Miniber. a +2 Double Sword of shock that can become a club, staff or spear (with the same properties) as a free action

Black Pilgrim a Holy Avenger Greataxe (modeled after a weapon in Starfollowers of Coramonde)

Manticore its normal form is a morning star +3. The six spikes on the head can be fired as +3 Heavy Crossbow Bolts (the spikes regenerate 1 per round) It can extend a spike from the bottom that can either extend as a 50' chain grapple or be fired as an Heavy Crossbow Bolt (also +3) The weapon can also become a flail. The head can attack with a bite attack out to 50' (or grapple at that range) and still be attached

Shalidar Daggers these dagger are +3 and if pressed together can fire a 6d lightning bolt. This drains 1 plus from the weapons. All lost pluses are regained within 24 hours

Trueslayer a Xenaesque +1 Keen Vorpral Chakram of Returning

Well if we are inlcuding armor

The Red Armor, this was a major divine artifact, a relic I guess-- In its current incarnation it was +5 Total Fortification Articulated (quality, bonus to max dex and manuever) Ghost Touch Spell Resistant (19) with Greater reistance to all Energy Types . It could also become spiked armor (as a free action) and also as a free action extend +5 Ghost Touch Gauntlet Spikes

Roar: A Lion Headed Buckler +3 Once per day it could create a stunning roar (I don't remember the exact effects)

The Hammer: Another Buckler hat could create TK style Knockback on a sucessfull hit. It was +2 IIRC

I once created a suit of magic armor that was also sort of a weapon.

It was a blood red mithril chain shirt +2 called "Spiderlegs." The chain links had a spiral pattern that resembled a spider's web, with long trailing links that reach almost to the wearer's ankles. On command, the long chain links animate and lengthen into longer, barbed legs that pick up and carry the wearer around. Effectively, the armor animates into a Large monstrous spider mount (including a climb speed) that can't be attacked, and for which the user never needs to make ride checks. The chains can also lash out and attack once per round.

The illithid who had this suit of armor was a force to be reckoned with, and the party never did end up killing it.

I based a recently awarded magic item, designed for a specific climactic scene in a quest, on an Inuit oral tradition story in which a hunter is attacked by a giant polar bear and lodges his spear in the creature's mouth when it tries to swallow him.

The Prop Spear
This spear functions normally as a +2 Longspear but if an attempt is made to lodge the spear in a the mouth of a creature of Huge or greater size through a readied Grapple action queued to the creature's bite attack, the user may (a) discount the opponent's size bonus and (b) apply the weapon bonus (ie. +2) to an opposed grapple check to prop the creature's mouth open. If this attack is made successfully, the creature's mouth is propped open permanently until the user chooses to remove it.

In our last campaign, the GM gave out a sword that was essentially a metal spike on a handle. Whenever the spike was touched to something, and a command-word was said, it would shape a sword made from that thing.

So, you could touch it to a plant and get a plant-sword, or fire and get a fire sword, or water, or ice, or wood, or whatever. It was wicked cool.
*rubs fingers together* oh the possibilites. Oh and thanks ferret. The halfling barbarian, or the lady who played her actualy cried when she picked up a cursed axe and couldnt wield Fury for the rest of the session at least.

A player in our group once got a little over-excited and cast "Elfs Massive Arrow"

he has yet to live it down. in our current campaign another PC has now researched a spell that fires a ballista bolt of force at enemies...Elf's Massive Arrow.
