We used to have 80 acres of mostly farmland that we used as for our summer cabin. The land taxes were paid for by letting real farmers harvest the hay from our front and back fields.

Sounds like you've got much better plans for the land, though.

When my wife and I built our house, we picked up a book that talked about design points, and how *not* to build it. It included common mistakes, and things to look out for - simple things like the way doors swing, and where to put outlets, etc. It's in storage, so I can't remember the name offhand, but if I find it, I'll post it.
