D&D General When is the last time you DMed a game?

Last time I was a player was around 1983-84. I GM every Friday evening, with breaks for vacations and some holidays.

I may try to run something this weekend during an off-week in our Traveller game. I'm gunshy because my previous group always had issues because I'd start running something and it would seem to fall apart, so I always felt it 'wasn't worth their time'.

My current group is online and generally, if a game gets cancelled, it's NBD because they have zero travel time to the game.

The other issue I struggle with, and I'm sure plenty of others do, is I'm always comparing anything I run to a great campaign I'd ran before that people loved, that led to a spinoff game with a different GM that's still beloved decades later. I wrestled with that until I'd written about it to the Happy Jack's podcast and got great advice: No matter how great a campaign was, you have to remember it also had tons of filler, had tons of 'not so good' sessions. We just remember the highlights, not all the sessions that are travel or people just sitting there trying to make up plans.

It was the most shortest session I’ve seen in a while.

It was damn good though; more Chaos, Warpstone and dark powers than I've ever seen squeezed into two hours. And those cats!

I’d love you to do the opposite… when did you last run a PC in a campaign.
