Where Do You Game?

When I game, I prefer to game in a dedicated gaming area in my basement.

I'm not adverse to traveling to a game, unless I'm DMing. If I'm running the game, I much prefer to do it from the comfort of my own home, rather than trying to lug all the stuff I think I'll need along.

Five of my six players and I work for the same company, so we use one of the company's conference rooms after work hours or on weekends. The huge tables and lots of chairs are great for tabletop gaming and board gaming. Also makes it very easy to be on time for games after work!

I host our D&D campaign at my apartment. On game night my wife graciously hides in her office, doing work or watching movies, while my friends and I take over the living room.

It's kinda the opposite of the man cave/hobbit hole, seeing as the room was decorated by my wife. For example, we play on my wife's glass Noguchi coffee table... and I wince a little every time someone's overly-enthusiastic dice rolling -- and by 'rolling' I mean hurling dice at it like the table just insulted their mother-- threatens to chip it (even more).

BTW, there's a gaming store that's primarily a gaming space --Redcap's Corner-- a few blocks away. So far, I've haven't had much need to check it out. Should that change, I probably will (but I'd miss hosting... my place serves bourbon!)

How about adding in 'online' as a distinct option?

Sure, if that can be done that'd be fine by me though some people may have already chosen the last option thinking that, so maybe we should leave it at three now.

*edit* Cool. Thanks to PC or whoever might have changed the poll for us. :)

Always at a home...sometimes mine, sometimes a friend's. (We take turns.)

Interesting that "Game Store" is listed as an option, but not "at school" or "the park" or "at work." I see LARPers at the park, and students all over campus playing M:tG and D&D, all the time. The only games I've seen being played at my FLGS are Civil War-era war games and chess.

The guy who DMs for our group about half the time and his wife have always hosted the games I play in person since moving to CA nearly 9 years ago. They've got a full-sized table cut down to end table height for spreading out a battle map between couches.
