Which Animal Companions Are Tastiest?

If a snowstorm happens upon you and your paladin mount you can gut it open with your trusty sword and move in for the night.

Besides, there's a Star Wars (Ep. IV) quote you can use then. Although I wouldn't call the stinking snow beast (a bantha, or I got confused ?) a paladin's mount.

Dont eat the furry friends :(

Rangers, especially the elf or half elf ones are quite good eating and you dont have to feel bad about making the innocent little critter have to give up their life. Invariably, you'll stumble into another party member later on thats either-
An elf
A Ranger
A Half-elf
A Half-elf or Elf Ranger

After all, good PC's will lay down their life and limb for their comrades in battle, or maybe just a limb and promise you'll grow it back later...

Indeed. There's plenty of creatures, from green dragons to swamplight lynx to hook horrors who are said to particularly like the taste of elven flesh. Elves taste great, eat some.

That's why half-orcs are balanced with the elves as PC-race: noone will ever want to eat them.

They were tauntauns. Banthas were the big elephant-like critters ridden by sandpeople on Tatooine.

Actually, according to... Leaves from the Inn of the Last Home, I believe, elves aren't very tasty. Quite stringy, actually. And I think one RuneQuest supplement said something about them tasting ashen.

Homunculi should be avoided - they taste like rubber and have too many bones. Ick.
Tiny Vipers, however... Just roast them (takes care of the poison) and you have a nice snack to go with the wizard, who will no doubt follow his buddy very soon.

You are aware that there is the entire plant kingdom to consume? Right? Not that a plant's life is without meaning mind you. But I'd be hard pressed to eat one of my cats...

Well, no one who doesn't like pork chops anyway.

Dire boars, all the way. Fierce in combat, and who doesn't like bacon? Baconbaconbaconbaconbaconbaconbacon!

"Oh sure, Lisa. A magical, mystical animal."

Horse might be good. You lose most combat benefits, but you can ride it till it is exhausted and then eat it for dinner. Rinse and repeat, no more foraging for food.

Why would I want to wage war against an entire kingdom? The party only needs to eat one Animal Companion at a time.

I think P.Cat came up with the best choice. Angry fightin' tusky porkchops! HD for HD, I think that companion would probably be the most valuable.

Although for ease of clean-up, a single bunny companion would come in handy, too.

You don't have to eat your cat all at once. One leg at a time works in a pinch ;)

Though given a choice the bacon gets my vote. Not only are pigs smarter than dogs but they taste better too :D
