D&D General Which edition of D&D did you grow up with?

We got the actual dice, but they were of such poor quality that all the corners wore off within a few weeks.

Our box did not survive, either.

I first played Moldvay, then went out and bought the Metzer Basic set.

Most of my teen years were spent playing 1E AD&D, so that's what I voted for, though I bought and imported aspects of BECMI into my games.

I used the chits for about 2 games, then went out and bought the dice. After which I tossed the chits deep into the nearest trash can. My box didn't survive either, along with the B2 module (got a replacement later, which I still have). I do still have that original rulebook though...

I started with the Rules Cyclopedia, played games with my cousin and friends at high school and then moved into 2e. Good times.
