I mentioned damage first because it's the same and give illusion that it is working.
under that I said that for extra 1 AC, you lose almost certain AoO, lose reach, less damage on AoO and later you need two magic weapons.
and for fighters later is even worse, as with more extra attacks you gain only main hand and there you again lose 1 point of damage per attack and you have weaker "nova" via extra action feature.
