Which illustrator's work would you like to see in gaming?

If we're talking about artists who've never specifically done game art (as far as I know), I'd say:

* Tony Szczudlo (never can remember how to spell his name properly)

"Mr Birthright" he did 2 covers for us, unfortunately they may never see the light of day.... and you spelled his name correctly

He's dead, Jim (has been for about 60 years). He was one of the leading illustrators during the first half of the twentieth century.

I meant that as, "Of course he's dead - so what's your point?" not "Whaddya mean he's not available!?!"

I've been collecting the Scribners series with the Wyeth and Parrish illustrations for a few years now - I even found a first edition of Westward, Ho! in a used bookstore, but $160.00 was a bit too dear for me at the time.

Thanks for pointing that out for me, though... ;)

Rodney Matthews. My all time favorite fantasy artist, but never did any work related to role playing games as far as I know. Did posters, record album, and book covers, some Moorcock related work. Was most popular in the '70s right around the time that D&D got going. Became Born Again at one point and stopped doing fantasy in favor of apocalyptic stuff, but then started doing fantasy again. See his work at http://www.rodneymatthews.com/

I'd like to see something designed by Froud, both artistically and conceptually. His Dark Crystal book is a spectacular melding of art and ideas.

Seconded.

I'd also like to see the work of Charles Vess in game products.

Todd Lockwood is amazing.
Agnus McBride is great.
Parkinson
Elmore
Christopher Vasher
Rodney Matthews (for a surreal type of setting)
Sam Wood
There are others as well who are wonderful artists.

However, there are some I NEVER want to see more of:

Erol Otus
DiTerlizzi (in planescape mode....yeeecchhhh.......muppets on the planes)
Baxa

Gods preserve us from these. They are talented in their own rights of course, but in comparison to Lockwood, McBride, Parkinson, Elmore, and some others there IMO is no contest. The "unique" and quirky styles of the three I don't like are IMO good only in small doses.

Marko Djurdjevic (has he ever drawn for DnD? I'm familiar with his Shadowrun work)

More Diterlizzi
More Arnie Swekel
More Lockwood
More Sam Wood
More RK Post
Chain Steve Prescott to a desk, dope him up on caffeine and CIA developed mind control drugs and make him draw for DnD 23 hours a day

No Erol Otis. No Elmore. Give them credit for the nostalgia factor, but that can't be the be all and end all of it when you decide who to have do artwork.
