Young Captain Kirk vs. Han Solo!

That is a tough call! Everyone knows Han shoots first of course, but then Kirk plays dirty, breaking the rules, reprogramming computers, whenever he feels like it.

Fixed it for you ;)

Heh, I avoided that one. :) (I heard bad things about it...) 3 was the one I actually saw.

At least Generations had Kirk getting hit by a bridge...

The Auld Grump, Orion Slave Girls... Mmmmm....

I prefer Star Wars to Star Trek. I find SW more intemporal than ST. It's mythological fantasy with space ships and light swords, basically, while ST is more framed in mind, particularly in the explorer fictional genre, like Treasure Island, Mobby Dick and the like.

I really like ST, particularly James T. Kirk's crew (James, Bones and Spock are great characters with a GREAT screen alchemy, IMO).

But my love goes for ST. :)

Orion Slave Girl
VS.
Slave Leia
Oh, man. Slave Leia, big time. :o

Is it Young Captain Kirk that makes out with green alien women? I forget.

When two cosmic forces of endless proportion collide the entire universe, indeed multiverse, stands in the balance. This discussion is what is greater, a devastating volcano that can raise an island, or the tsunami that can cover it? The mountain or the avalanche? The sun or the thunderstorm. Such questions are dangerous to our very existance in that they cannot truly be answered.

There is one way and only one way to settle this, the greatest of all debates. and that is

MORTAL COMBAT!

Young Captain Kirk vs. Han Solo!

Who will win? How will it be decided?!

Han will shoot first....

What this ultimate battle ultimately comes down to is:

I'm really tempted to create a card game out of this idea. Anyone care to illustrate it? :D

It's like comparing apples and oranges, the goals of the two are so different that it's nigh impossible to say which is "better".

Long ago, when I first came to college and got on the internet, my first real look at online fandom and internet debating came with the infamous "Star Trek vs. Star Wars" threads on usenet. It was fun at the time, but now I realize that there is no answer, and it's virtually impossible to even make an unbiased and honest attempt at it.

You can talk about why you specifically like one over the other, but an objective "this is better" is the sort of question that will never be answered. They are both entertaining and generally well made (some exceptions apply on both sides), so it's not like comparing a lousy TV show and a neat movie series, or a stinker of a movie and a great TV show, they are both great programs.

However, they are so different in what they are, and both of such generally high quality, trying to be that it is going to be futile to try and actually figure out which is "better".

I can say that I personally used to prefer Star Trek, and did until Voyager started stinking, but I became an increasingly large Star Wars fan in the mid to late 90's, as my appreciation of the movies was heightened by the high quality of the Expanded Universe material.
