I have despised that series since I was a small boy.Harry Potter. I mean...yeah lol.

Just saying, that's what it's there for. I don't like it either, and it really annoyed me that it was the vehicle for 'spells matter' as a theme.I have despised that series since I was a small boy.

It certainly didn't get me back into Magic.
Yes, the point. 'Magic School'.it's nothing like Harry Potter besides sharing a sungenre of fantasy.

I hate that genre personally, no problem with people liking it but I would hate to read I unless they start making it different somehow.Yes, the point. 'Magic School'.

You obviously havent been watching young adult TV shows lately, dont absolutely all of them feature High Schools for Supernatural creatures of various kinds?I still question why they made a mage school setting a dnd setting.
yeah and I hate them as a kid, and it was not that far ago I would count as kid.You obviously havent been watching young adult TV shows lately, dont absolutely all of them feature High Schools for Supernatural creatures of various kinds?
Strixhaven reminds me more of Winx than it does Harry Potter, but you’ve also got the school in Vampire Diaries and another in Legacies, the school in Descendents, DCs Superhero school etc etc
To be fair, I actually don't know of many popular books/shows that have a school meant for magic with clearly defined Colleges, beyond Harry Potter with its Houses. Especially where they essentially match personality types to your College/House.

Magic: The Gathering’s Strixhaven is more than just a Hogwarts pastiche
But it’s definitely a big Harry Potter goof, alsowww.polygon.com
I don't think Harry Potter is the only inspiration for Strixhaven, but its clearly a pretty big one. Mage Tower for example is pretty clearly inspired by Quidditch.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d love to see MTG’s latest set “Adventures in the Forgotten Realms” adapted to a D&D setting! I think it could really work!
look the idea predates both and it is a bad idea for a full setting, maybe a subsetting.Mage Tower is inspired by college football and capture the flag, but with none lethal spells, it's nothing like quadditch.
and the Colleges of Strixhaven are very different from Hogwart Houses, the Colleges are like American College system, but with magic, Horwart Houses are just dormitories with inter house competition.
I fully intend to repurpose it for Arcanix in Eberron.look the idea predates both and it is a bad idea for a full setting, maybe a subsetting.

I seriously can't think of a fantasy property more similar to Strixhaven than Hogwarts. If there is one, I'd like to hear it. But Harry Potter has some pretty obvious influences here.
