Which non-core monsters should have been core?

bullywug, tabaxi, nishru, gem dragons, flumph...

heck the entire Tome of Horrors.

I think EVERYTHING from the 2e Monstorous Manual should have been core in 3.x. Thanks to Scott and Erica for filling the gap with the Tome of Horrors.

Now about the flumph :P

Pretty much any of the critters in the Forgotten Realms books that used to be in the 1st ed. "core" monster books. I never understood why a lot of "core" creatures suddenly got dumped into FR as their "home" when 2e was published; 3e should have put them right back where they came from.

Uh, such as? Many of the creatures in the 2E MM first appeared in FR products: the dracolich, the beholder variants, etc. Nowadays most people think FR "stole" those creatures, but they originated in FR.

Quaggoth (originally in FF I think, now in Monsters of Faerun) and peryton (originally in MM, now in Monsters of Faerun) are two I'm thinking of.

Dracolich
Death knight
Thri-kreen
The MoTP genies (dao, marid)
Paraelementals
Yeti
Grell
Hook horrors
Catoblepas
Banshee

Demiurge out.

yugloth
yellow musk creeper
hook horror
grell
myconid
sirine
anarchic, axiomatic, shadow and elemental templates

for now those are the ones are feel should have been core

Bullywugs. Don't forget bullywugs. And it would have been nice if abashai got covered somewhere else, too.

Demiurge out.
