D&D General Which non-D&D races would like to see in Dungeons and Dragons?

If you insist of putting species into large categories and saying they're basically the same, you remove a lot of flavor and nuance from the setting.
my problem is the versatility of elf more than anything, it being a positive other tends to get many things in the same area, plus lots of old nerd writers read lord of the rings and it tends to influence things

My first reflex would be a dismissive "space Elf" too but I suppose a case could be made for Minbari being more an enlightened space Orc :p - maybe something like the Irda of Dragonlance, a strong but arrogant and potentially brutal species with high intelligence and an enlightened culture
I try not to make dismissive my first impulse in any situation. Nuance matters.

If the other guys are doing the cool stuff, why aren't we watching their story?
just because the other guys are doing cool stuff doesn't mean our guy isn't also doing cool stuff, just because big leagues Iron Man exists that doesn't mean we can't be invested in friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

there can be more factors that make a story worth following than merely 'who's doing the flashiest, most plot-relevant stunts?'

think you’re underestimating how much better Tok’ra tech is.

Probably true seeing as I know literally nothing about them but that doesn’t make my point any less true does it really? You can very much have interesting stories about the rag-tag group of misfits solving dirt farmer’s goblin issues while the practicality living gods ‘true heroes’ battle dimensional invaders and the end of the world in the background.

honestly I kind of want the Matoran from Bionicle as conceptually they are like hobbits just better in every way that matters, even the six basic varieties are great that is before you get the insane options like the ones who can live on the surface of the sun with no ill effects.
BIONICLE MENTIONED

Seriously, so many good choices from that. I scrounged up a random thing on DMs Guild yonks ago that had stats for Totally Not Bohrok among others
