Which was/is your favorite setting from TSR/WotC?

One choice only.

I'll pick Greyhawk just because I have fond memories of the 1E boxed set.

However, I also have fond memories of the 1E FR boxed set.

Plus, Al-Qadim, Spelljammer and Planescape are very interesting.

None of the others did much for me, however.

I didn't include Eberron because I felt it was too soon for anyone to make a judgement.

Also, I didn't include Lankhmar and Conan because these were not home-spun TSR worlds. Also, the latter never had a core campaign-setting book.

I didn't include Kingdoms of Kalamar because someone abused me when I said it was an "official D&D setting". They said it was Kenzer's -- they just had permission to put the D&D logo on it.

Long Live Zakhara!

Al-Qadim for sure! I've had great times in the Realms, Ravenloft and Masque of the Red Death, but Al-Qadim owns the top spot.

I've always wanted to play Planescape, but never had the chance. That would be my number one never-played setting. :heh:

Definately Ravenloft, not only was/is it a fabulous setting, but it changed a lot of the stuff that was taken for granted about D&D. The templates for 3E are a direct result of the Van Richten's guides which broke the mould on the idea of generic Liches/Vampires etc. I would have liked to have seen Fear, Horror and maybe Madness checks make it into the DMG as core rules or at least an option rule, they made a lot of sense.

The setting also had a lot of cool adventures involving Dreams (Nightmare Lands), Time Travel (Out of the Shadows, Castles Forlorn), Undead PC's (Grim Harvest) and the nastiest adventure I've ever encountered to run PC's through (Bleak House, well book 1 of it anyway!!).

Thankfully Ravenloft seems to be in very good hands with Arthaus, the Gazeteers being produced for the setting have been needed for a LONG time, though the lack of adventures is galling, particularly as a DM who doesn't have a lot of free time to write his own (or that much ability to write good gothic horror either!)

As expected, Planescape is in the lead. Voted for FR, as I never played or really read much about Planescape. But I guess it's really quite fun. :)

Dark Sun is also cool and Greyhawk seems like a solid setting as well.

W00t! I'm the first Mystara vote! And we're tied with Spelljammer!

Hopefully, some other fans will come out of the woodwork and vote, so that we can leave the poll with a modicum of dignity. :p
