While we're on the subject of PrCls

A player has brought up a new PrCl on the Miscellaneous boards, and he and I are having differing opinions on how powerful the class ought to be, and what flavor of abilities it should get. Could we get a third opinion on the various revisions it's gone through?

Well, I have been busy with emergencies this week-end and had hoped to be able to do a compare/contrast with other PrC's to what is being proposed. It seems that this PrC as it is proposed gets a LOT of free feats. In its latest version it gets 7 over 10 levels. That seems a bit much to me off hand. But, I have not yet had the opportunity to really compare.

Concept is good. We need to evaluate balance closely.

I also think balance needs work; however, some of my rationale for allowing almost that many feats is on the thread there. Especially weapon proficiencies: even if you can use any weapon you want, you can still only use two at any given time.

Well I dislike the fact that a 2nd level PC could theoretically enter this PrCl.

As it is a fighting specialism it should have a BAB requirement and possibly a Weapon focus requirement.

Ex-blade: Any blade who wishes to become proficient with a non-bladed weapon or becomes a lawful alignment may no longer progress in level a a blade.

This is a strange rule - A Fighter, Barbarian, Ranger, Rogue level gives such proficencies and even taking a Bard level breaks this. It might be good to clarify this.

Mage blade: The prerequisite is unclear, does this mean they much know the spell or that they must have cast the spell.

Lightning Blade: No save DC.

Blades of Fury: Not sure I like this at all, but it should be a Will save (there is no will check) and what is dreadful panic? Shaken, Frightened or Panicked? I would suggest the first.

In general I agree that it is a bit heavy on feats and abilities.
