Yep, it seems any art that isn't off the cover of a Molly Hatchet album is suddenly "dungeonpunk" or "anime"…

Exactly. Pardon me if I don't think that head shops and van art should still be dictating what fantasy looks like.

Eva Widermann - she's done great pieces for PHB2, Dragon and some of the more recent adventures form WotC. One of my favorite D&D Artists!
Lockwood - he just has to stay.
Yoshitaka Amano - an unusual but really terrific choice! His style is so different from manga/anime that some wouldn't even make the connection.
Di Terlizzi - like Amano, his style is very distinctive and different.
Wayne Reynolds - love his action pieces, but i don't think he's right for the cover.
Michael Kormack - i want big atmospheric set pieces like the "Caves of Chaos"

Di Terlizzi - for art associated with the Feywild
Brom- for art associated with the Shadowfell
Mike Mignola- for art associated with the abyss/elemental chaos

I'll get back with others later.

I'd like to see a mix of artists though if they tapped WAR to do every single D&D illustration in the books, I'd not complain. I don't mind the so-called dungeonpunk, or the portrait-style art - I prefer it over most of the art I've seen in previous editions. You could drop in realistic-style anime, or less representional styles as well and I wouldn't mind. Seems a lot of D&D players haven't been exposed to the broad range that fantasy art covers now, and they need to. Think of it as a loooong overdue trip to the art museum.
