Who Do You Want Illustrating 4th Ed.?

Hmm... personally, I wish that each book could be mainly illustrated by only one artist, with a handful of inserts by others for effect. It's not so bad when I like most of the art, but when I don't like most of the art, it becomes very jarring and annoying. Guess it's just me though, since I've never really heard anyone else voice such opinions about illustrations in RPG books.

Luis Royo.

Heh. Roya would be perfectly fine as long as he stuck to people with their clothes on :)

I certainly would not balk at these images in a PHB.

Yeah, both of those, especially the 2nd one, are exactly the kind of stuff I'd like to see. Although I was initially kind of kidding.

I'd like to see Todd Lockwood and Brom do Forgotten Realms...

specifically after the Points of Light template is applied. I think Brom can do a good job of the post-apocalyptic look and Todd Lockwood can do a good job of the faeries returning to the realms...

though there is a cover on an Ars Magica book that I think would capture the points of light well too...

Man, I've been thinking about this pretty much all day. I left out a lot of popular choices as I wanted to get some new blood in there. Saying that I'd be given any budget and that my design team consists of 5 artists, these are my choices:

Abrar Ajmal - http://www.aaillustrations.com
John Avon- http://www.johnavon.com
Jason Chan - http://www.jasonchanart.com
Maxime Desmettre - http://www.maxisland.net
Julie Dillon - http://www.maxisland.net (I'd defintely want a female on my team, and Julie rocks!)
Hugh Jamieson - http://www.paintandsuffering.com
Michael Komarck - http://komarckart.com/
Daryl Mandryk - http://www.mandrykart.com/
Torstein Nordstrand - http://www.torsteinnordstrand.com
Vebjorn Strommen - http://home.broadpark.no/~vstromm/index.htm
Justin Sweet - http://www.justinsweet.com/
J. P. Targete - http://www.targeteart.com
Matt Wilson - http://mattwilsonart.com/
Feng Zhu - http://www.fengzhudesign.com/

Yeah, that's more then 5... :\ I would probably hold a run of tests to see who works out the best. ;) One thing that always bugs me about WotC is that they always seem to pick artists that don't use dynamic lighting in their pieces and they look for more straight up illustrators. I made these choices against that philosophy as I think it brings more feeling to the art.

I don't. If they pick an artist that I don't like, I'm stuck with a book full of crappy art. Different artists can really clash at times. When your Art Directing and assigning everything out, you just need to be careful.
