Who else considers he has now enough d20 stuff and won't buy more?

At various times, I thought I had far too many books, but then I buy a few more

I mean I quit buying... and then Arcana Unearthed, Midnight and Conan D20 came out.

Recently I bought Compelete Arcane because of the very cool Warlock.

And the artwork in Complete Arcane inspired me to buy Complete Divine and Races of the Earth, even though I was leaning against those books.

Yes, it's a sort of rant...

With my last purchase (which disappointed me), I decided that I probably have more than enough d20/D&D material (appr. 50 books) and now must stop. Of course I have yet to get the last one (d20 Past), maybe one or two modules so I don't need write my own, but I am basically done. In any case I don't use much of most of these books. Better try to plunder them again anytime I can, rather than succumb to the sirens of Internet marketing and still buy more stuff. I see that I am less and less enlivened by what I purchase. Now is time to stop and just use what I have (in any case it's more than I can use).

The problem is, that if more and more react like me, the market will probably not live for long. So, what about you?

I am not there yet but until recently I feltthe same way

But with Game of Thrones, Thieves World,Blue Rose and more coming out there is new blood yet to be had

It also helps that I got rid of my useless stuff a while back too

Nisarg, fortunately your post got stomped by the latest bug. I should point out, however, that even if you think you're not breaking the rules because you're throwing blanket insults at entire groups of people rather than an individual, you are in fact breaking the rules. The ice is mighty thin, my friend. Were I you, I would reconsider my posting style and board persona.

It's getting to the point where a new race, feats, prcs and spells just wont do it for me. I have all the complete books and have no intention of getting the races of or environmental series books. I am all crunched out and need books with decent and inovative fluff to get me interested.

Besides, when I look at how much the "useless" part of my bookshelf cost me, I shudder. I need to be a lot more discerning now.

I'de probably never put a blanket ban on d20.
I've put a blanket ban on anything WotC 3.5 though, they won't see a red nickel from me.

Does this mean you're going to opt for material from other systems, like say d6 systems?

I've cut way, way back.

Certainly there is nothing coming out from WotC that is of any forseeable interest or use to me, but then again I never made the switch to 3.5, have no interest in Forgotten Realms or Eberron, and suchlike, so that makes things easy.

My biggest downfalls are probably Malhavoc Press and Green Ronin -- they just put out such interesting quality material that I find myself buying more than I need (or can even realistically digest).

That being said, my purchasing of game books has slashed over the last year and a half and I don't see it coming back up any time real soon. One only has so much bookshelf space. ;)

No, I don't intend to adopt a new system. In fact I do like d20/D&D and don't want to change. It's just I will now essentiall use what I already have, as I now understand that more money spent into rpg stuff won't improve my gaming experience that much...

I definitely have enough if I want. But that doesn't mean I'm going to stop buying, only that I don't really need. For the record, I only own about a dozen books by the way :)

You look at what's out now, and you figure "Gadzooks, I need none of this!", but what happens when the next unbelievably cool innovative new D20 pretty young thing comes out? I'll tell you what, Pepe, you'll BUY it! You'll go running to it <...>
But the problem is, there WON'T be anything so extraordinary that I NEED to get it immediately. It's what most of my last purchases told me. I have no problem with buying new stuff. It's just that I have been disappointed too much times and also noticed that I don't have the time to play all I already have (four campaign settings). So I considered it wasn't worth anymore spending money there. And in fact I will continue to buy, but DVDs instead of d20 stuff...
