Good Lord! I can understand not being able to, but no desire?!? Can you really be a gamer and not hear the call to Mecca?

mhacdebhandia said:Of course, Carl. There's not much of a "Mecca" about it if you don't have fun playing with strangers.
The only reason I would ever make it to GenCon is to meet up with awesome EN Worlders. Everything else about it has no real appeal for me.

For me, the big barrier is that I'm not interested enough to make the trek from Australia. Now, will I feel differently while I'm living in California for a while in a year's time? Interesting question. However: games, no. Dealer's rooms, not really. New product releases, I don't have the urge to get anything the day it comes out (kind of hard, anyway, living here in Sydney). Now, meeting people - EN Worlders, industry types - that would be cool. But everything else, not so much.CarlZog said:Fair enough. But after attending twice, I can say that you'd probably be surprised how much there is to it. There's something to appeal to just about eveybody.
