Who Else Has Never Been To Gen Con?

Of course, Carl. There's not much of a "Mecca" about it if you don't have fun playing with strangers.

The only reason I would ever make it to GenCon is to meet up with awesome EN Worlders. Everything else about it has no real appeal for me.

Fair enough. But after attending twice, I can say that you'd probably be surprised how much there is to it. There's something to appeal to just about eveybody.

For me, the big barrier is that I'm not interested enough to make the trek from Australia. Now, will I feel differently while I'm living in California for a while in a year's time? Interesting question. However: games, no. Dealer's rooms, not really. New product releases, I don't have the urge to get anything the day it comes out (kind of hard, anyway, living here in Sydney). Now, meeting people - EN Worlders, industry types - that would be cool. But everything else, not so much.

Never went, look between my "join date" and my "last seen" to find the reason why.

I'm dying to go but I don't suffer, resignation gets the best of me in that matter.

One thing I will say is that, so far as ENW members are concerned, you do not need to game with strangers. I think of GenCon as my opportunity to game with my "internet friends" and make them my "real life friends." It. Is. Awesome.

I've never made it to a Gen Con :(. I've wanted to for years now but money always seems to be my primary issue. Once I (finally) finish school (again) and (hopefully) find a decent paying job, I'll get there!
