Who is the best D20 Modern writer?

This one is simple: Just write who you think the best is and why they are. It does not matter if they write PDFs or regular books, just who you think the best person is.

I have read a couple D20 Modern module, and ”Bloodlines” distributed by www.12tomidnight.com stands out as one of the best I have seen. It was written by Preston DuBose. It is a excellent module, it is very well written with several very unexpected turns. I was a playtester for this game, so some may say my opinion could be jaded, but feel free to check it out and tell me if you think I am wrong.

Well... I think there are a lot of really good D20 Modern writers out there... I'm REALLY hard pressed to say, "This guy is the mostest acest of them all!"
Obviously, I dig Charles Rice's products.
Stan! rocks, too.
Rich Redman.
J.D. Wiker.

Nah... I can't say who writes the best.
I can just say that I'm VERY glad to see 3rd Party D20 Modern product out there, and hope we get something close to an equal amount of support for D20 Future when it hits the shelves.

I don't think there is any single "best" writer for the line, but I'd put forward these names:

Stan! - The MPC was brilliant. 'Nuff said.

Rich Redman - Cowrote the core book, has posted some great columns on the Wizards' site, and Martial Arts Mayhem is a great addition to the game for any number of campaign uses.

Charles Rice - IMO of all the non-Wizards writers, he "gets" d20M mechanics the best.

Rodney Thompson - I thought his "Unusual Suspects" column in Polyhedron was perhaps the most useful short-length writing for the game (esp. The Kage, which is to this day my favourite Poly non-minigame article ever). Flavour is entirely a personal thing, but his tastes in flavour seem to match my own.

KoOS

Charles Rice.

I think he outstrips the TGM folks, who seem to have less of a sense of what is useful (sorry, I found the class combos in MPC I beyond useless.)

That and whoever wrote the Sandman stats for Menace Manual. They seem to know what works for the game on a subconscious level. ;)

The Game Mechanics are the class of d20 Modern support. Also some great work by RPGObjects, and I humbly submit by my own 12 to Midnight. In fact, if you dig horror games I challenge you to check us out. Email me at Jackson@12tomidnight, and I'll cut you a deal if you have never purchased from us before. (Blatant self-promotion done!) Rich Redman, JD Wiker and Stan! are the most responsible for the great Modern stuff out there and I greatly admire them.
Also, there are some folks putting out great game aids, such as weapons books and such that are invaluable. All are easily found on RPGNow. I hope to see more print books for Modern come out, but till then, the PDFs are the best support available.
I think the "lack of support" folks probably have one particular type of modern game they want and this colors their perspective. For instance, there are the fantasy beings in the modern world types, cyberpunkers, Modern Military gamers, spycrafters, horror genres, and others that are all d20 Modern. But there is something for everyone out there, and the lists of products are growing.
Allow me one other plug, but not for my company. If you haven't checked out Savage Worlds by Pinnacle, your really missing out. Fast play and cool settings for any genre of gaming.

Lates,

Jackson

Charles Rice and Benjamin Durbin (if for no other reason than Grim Tales). Charles puts out high quality relevant material (at least relevant to my campaign). Benjamin scored big with GT, its on my "must use" list of D20 Modern products (even though it isnt strictly speaking only D20 Modern)

Chuck Rice is a ten-foot man-beast who showers in vodka and feeds his babies shrimp scampi!

TO CHUCK RICE!!!
