Who Should Make The Next Star Wars TTRPG, And What Should It Look Like?

I think it is a mistake to assume the most fervent fans represent the majority of fans. 99.9% of Star Wars fans do not edit Wookiepedia, and 99.8% of them have never even gone to the site.
My take is probably 1% of people who have watched and enjoyed Star Wars have looked up on stuff on Wookieepedia, and maybe 1.5% of Star Wars watchers have played a TTRPG, and that the Venn diagram between those two groups has a pretty large overlap.

Who said the next Star Wars game has to be for the "majority"?

And in any case, the majority of TTRPGs is D&D anyway. You've already gone completely niche by recommending Modiphius. If we're going to look into fervent minorities, we might as target the dedicated Star Wars fans rather than RPG enthusiasts.

Agreed. Why shouldn't a Star Wars RPG take such folks into account? All the previous Star Wars RPGs have, even FFG's. As much as they talk about how important the narrative is there, it's still pretty darn crunchy, and IMO that's a good thing.

I wonder why you think that. I have played Star Wars RPGs with a LOT of people (I run Star Wars games at cons a lot) and I can't say they strike me as any more interested in details than anyone else.

Now, Star trek fans...

Which is funny, since in many ways the current Star Trek RPG is less gearhead-oriented, with a lot of narrative focus.

As has been suggested above, Star Wars fan in general probably not, but there is I think a significantly higher percentage of Star Wars RPG fans who are, to one degree or another.
There’s that.

The Star Wars movies and TV crowd, the Star Wars computer game crowd, and the Star Wars TTRPG crowd are not the same crowd, event if there are overlapping zones in this Venn diagram. Wookiepedia as a whole, has probably a bigger overlap with the Star Wars movies+RPG part.
