Who Wants To Be A Suprhero - Please Read

Mistwell

Crusty Old Meatwad
I'm not saying my wife is probably going to be on the show.... ;)

I am saying that if anyone watched the first season of this show, and can describe what the show is like, and can offer any advice for someone who in theory was going to be on the show, I would find such description and advice interesting.

And if anyone knew of any way for someone interested in watching that first season to be able to watch it, that would be interesting and cool as well.

Saw the whole season with my kids and it was a favorite last summer.

Rule #1: Never admit to anyone that the reason you're on the show is to sell out. Two contestants got the boot for that - one said he wanted to sell his own like of action figures and the other that it would help futher her career as a model.

Rule #2: Never tell anyone your secret ID

Rule #3: Be humble and sincere, and be sure to keep your wits about you.

Other than that, you can watch season one on DVD.

We wish her success whether she makes it to the show or not!

They never did make good on Feedback's victory did they? No comic, no movie.

Haven't made good - yet. It has not yet been a year. How many movies (even Sci Fi Originals) can be made, from a dead start without a script, in under a year? And presumably they'd issue the comic to coincide with the movie release...

It is important for people on the show to know their superhero tropes. Behave like a superhero - honor, integrity, honesty, self-sacrifice. For any decision you need to make, you should ask yourself, "What would Spider Man or Captain America do?" and do that. Note that, unlike other reality shows, backstabbing your competition will not help you. At all.

Pick a costume you're not afraid to be seen on TV in. Have a concept fully fleshed out (history, theme songs, and so on). Be willing and able to do cheesey things, without actualy being cheesey. You're a superhero, but a real person, not a cartoon, and not a parody of a superhero.

Note that being an out-of-work actor seems to increase your chances of being on the show in the first place.

You can also watch Season 1 on Itunes.

Well, you can order it. I know many people who aren't able to watch it ;)

That was specific. I'd go more general and state that you should remember to act like a traditional superhero. Remember the heroes that Stan created (Spiderman, Iron Man, the original X-Men).

One key I'd say is act with integrity (hard to do for most who try to be on a reality show these days).

As others have said, not yet. The comic's listed to be released this July (listed HERE).

And to add to the suggestions for a participant:
1) Don't ignore anyone EVER, specially people asking for help during a test. Never, ever do that.

And by all means don't answer that question based upon CURRENT comic books of those titles!

A few things that seemed to matter when I watched (besides those listed above).

1. Stay in Character, Stay in Character, Stay in Character. This goes beyond keeping your secret ID secret but also for day to day activities. There were several times when the the contestants were judged on behavior that was not known by them to be on camera.

2. Don't worry about losing a challenge. The challenges are not important in themselves but rather the importance is in the contestants willingness to try thier hardest and behave like a hero. Do not complain about fairness or your personal problems.

3. Do not lie to Stan and be prepared for any background or family issues to be revealed. The producers will find a friend or family member who is willing to reveal anything embarasing or shameful in your past (I am not saying that you have something like this but just in case). Stan is willing to accept past or present problems as long as they are admitted too and learned from.
