Who's applying for a job at Fantasy Flight Games?

After seeing the link on the main page, I'm curious who (if any of you) are applying for jobs at Fantasy Flight Games after they announced several openings, today.

Anybody? Anybody?

Given that I'm probably making in the range of 4 times what they're going to be willing to pay, no. :)

Still it's good to know that the RPG industry is strong enough to support this kind of thing.

Yeah - 22,000 is pretty low, even for the area (Minneapolis being one of the more expensive areas in MN). In order to make the equivalent of what I do here in the DC metro area, I'd have to make about 1.5 times what they're offering. And that's just to maintain an equivalent standard of living - it'd have to be almost 2x their base salary to make it not be a paycut in at least normal terms.

But still...who (around here) doesn't dream of working for a game company?

I know you meant this to be rhetorical, but honestly I have absolutely no desire to work at a game company.

A couple years back I helped some friends with editing their products and learned that I don't want my gaming to be my job. Once I got bogged down in the details of "Is this npc statted right?", "Should this creature's BAB be +4 or +5?", "Is this feat balanced with X from the PHB?", the game stopped being fun. It became a chore, not something I looked forward to.

Fortunately, the world is full of people who feel very differently about this. So I'll happily let them do the work, and I'll throw (some) money at them in exchange for their products. Works for me... :)

MN isn't that bad. They talk funny, though. But hey, they have the Mall of America! (well, Minneapolis does, at least). That's an incredible mall.

Yeah - it used to have the best Wizards of the Coast store, ever in it. But now they're all gone! :(

Overall, though - Minneapolis is a pretty good place to live (I would guess). Football and Baseball available, major metropolitan area, and Midwestern culture hasn't totally given way to the city. The "Minnesota" accent is pretty hard to find inside the city itself.

The RPG industry is a great one to contribute to and be a part of but I've come to the realization that it doesn't make too much sense to expect to make money from it. I have a few ideas I've considered publishing but I'd mostly be doing it just to be published. I'm cool with that though.

I wonder if you got one of these jobs, how you would handle publshing your own material outside of FFG. It seems you would almost have to to boost your income. Or at least get another part-time job.
