Who's the big cahuna of undead in FR?

I remember reading the 3e module City of the Spider Queen (I'm not sure if the term "module" is in use anymore, but I can't think of what else we're supposed to be calling them) that Kiaransalee is said to have killed Orcus early in her career as a demigod, but there were no details beyond that concerning the deed. How did that come about and how did Orcus make his return back to world? Maybe it's something I can eventually use in my campaign--unlike CotSQ itself.

Man, there really needs to be an annual recap of events in FR or something. Is there? Kinda hard to use these accessories when they refer to events that take place in novels I don't read.

As far as I know, the exact details of Kiaransalee's murder of Orcus and stuff have never been dealt with, but Orcus' return is dealt with in the Planescape adventures "The Modron March" and "Dead Gods" (more the latter than the former).

Yeah to my knowledge there wasn't a novel or product that detailed that little incident. Just some saying "Kiaranselee killed Orcus."

But both those modules, MotP and I believe Faiths and Panethons mention Orcus.

Well, just judging from what I know of him, it seems a little odd that an ancient demon lord can be smacked down by a wet-behind-the-ears demigod with only a smattering of followers, but maybe that's a David-vs-Goliath type of story.

Incidentally, while I'm asking for spoilers, what ultimately was the cause of Lolth's silence? Knowing that would've gone a long way towards motivating me to run the module.

EDIT--Ruleslawyer, I almost forgot: a big thanks for the links you went to the trouble of posting.

Felon,

It was 2nd edition man. They did a LOT of wacky things back then. (Time of Troubles, more novels and settings than actually needed...etc.)
