sorry, this questions has probably already been posted but i was currios as too who would be moving on to DnDnext and who would be staying with 4e.

I for one don't know yet, I've put a lot of money into 4e so I'm not sure i wanna leave it so soon

If they take away all DDi support for 4e it will be hard to stick with it. Honestly, the character creator, adventure tools and the compendium make DMing far less work. It almost essential to me at this point.

I kinda fell out of love with 4th a year or so back. The only real reason why I'm still using it isn't because of the money I've invested, it's because of the time I've put into my secondary tools and the character builder.

At this point, I'm waiting to see what 5th ends up doing, and if it's not something that excites my group, we'll probably jump ship to some flavor of Pathfinder.

The 5e forecast is looking stormy, so my current plans involve 4e land.

Same here more or less. Granted, I've been drafting up some house rules to fix issues I and my players have had with the game. 4E is pretty close to perfect for me, and if I wanted to make the perfect fantasy game I would use it as an inspiration. I just don't feel like writing said perfect game. 4Es flaws are actually pretty easy to deal with.

5E doesn't sound so good so far. Its attempts to include every edition ring hollow since they only really want to include the most shallow aspects of 4E while doing everything they can to recreate a 1E feel with a 3.5 chasis. Now, as has been said tirelessly we only have what ammounts to leaked info over an alpha build, so it can change, but as of this moment, if I had to pick between the two, I would pick 4E in a second.

I'm not really seeing this as a "moving on" type thing as much as incorporating D&D Next into our gaming roster type of thing. 5e looks like it could be really good so our group will almost certainly get the books and give it a go. We run 3.x/Pathfinder/Traveller/4e and have considered playing Warhammer 3e at some stage so playing the next iteration of D&D is a no-brainer. The open play-testing thing makes that decision even easier.

I have little desire to play 5e, from what little I've seen. It's probably too early for such a thread though. Without seeing the actual 5e rules, which are only a twinkle in a developer's eye and not presented in an organized fashion yet, we can't be expected to make hard decisions.

Isn't this a bit early? We haven't even seen the playtest yet!

That said, given what I'm seeing so far, I'll probably stick to 4e, but I'm reserving judgement at least until I've had a pass at the playtest.

My group and I have really only just started playing 4E regularly after a long hiatus, and I feel we've only scratched the top of what the game holds. We'll definitely be sticking with it for a while, but once 5e comes out, who knows?

Ultimately, the game is just a commonly agreed rule-set with which to tell stories. The one that makes that easiest is the one I'll go with.
