Why are you still here?

Mostly because alot of the more interesting posters are still here. Alot of the theoretical discussions that I enjoy have moved from the general forum to 4e.

Most of the threads on this forum that I've participated in have been only partially about 4e. The root question in most of them is something like, "Why would one do this in 4e?" That's a question I'm interested in even if I'm not interested in purchasing 4e.

Also, I think its good for my prejudices to be challenged. And, I'm very much interested in game mechanics as a form of technology. There is no one true rule set. It's possible that some new thing that 4e is doing might actually be a good idea (for my style of play) or might inspire me to look at a problem in a way I'd never considered.

I'm still here because I get to relay every change WotC is making and how they go about leaking them and their excuses behind them to my wife on our nightly walks after work. There's been times recently we literally laughed so hard we had to stop walking to catch our breath.

Change can be good, but did it have to go competly zany-wonky bonkers with clown feet?
Gamer elitism makes me sad. Why do we have to laugh at people who play games slightly differently than we do?

One could say alot of the same for the pro-4e crowd......

Why still here

Call it curiosity. For those of you who have stated that you will not ever buy 4th Edition. Why are you still here? I don't mean on ENWorld, just the 4th Edition subforum.

It is important to consider all points of view - even the points of view of those with whom you disagree.

There are some aspects of 4E which are good ideas and I would not mind incorporating those into my game if practical.

Besides, I do not think the founders of the forum intended to exclude dissenters.

EDIT: Took out political reference so as not to hijack the thread.

Boo! Politics!!

But yeah, a broad perspective of where the hobby is at is both informative and entertaining.

I mainly like to come in and make snarky comments that get the pro-4E crowd all riled up and defensive. Its great entertainment. I don't even have to be a troll about it, because I can say something innocuous and it still gets people fired up.

Example:
"I am not sure I like the idea that spellcasters never run out of things to do. It seems a little bit like a bad video game. This seems like a design flaw and I don't like the way 4E is going."

There... that looks like a reasonable post. It doesn't appear trolling, but people get very riled up.

I mainly come to the 4e forum lately to ban people who say they are here just to stir up trouble. So you may wanna knock that off.
