Why are you still here?

I mainly like to come in and make snarky comments that get the pro-4E crowd all riled up and defensive. Its great entertainment. I don't even have to be a troll about it, because I can say something innocuous and it still gets people fired up.

Example:
"I am not sure I like the idea that spellcasters never run out of things to do. It seems a little bit like a bad video game. This seems like a design flaw and I don't like the way 4E is going."

There... that looks like a reasonable post. It doesn't appear trolling, but people get very riled up.

Sorry, all I read was
I am not sure I like the idea that spellcasters never run out of things to do. It seems a little bit like a bad video game VIDEOGAME VIDEOGAME VIDEOGAME VIDEOGAME.
In fact, that's not even what it reads like, because the VIDEOGAME echoes back into the post and erases the reasonable part.

So it's a bit trollish when posted for real, because you know darn well the result it's gonna create :)

A bit off topic but I'm in the same boat as you, Whisper. After Ari gave such a glowing review and I found out about the tax rebates I figured: Why not?

Then I got home to my library. It's just not possible for me to justify letting all that game material go to waste.

On top of that I've got a campaign going that I don't particularly want to scrap just for the new rules.

I wonder how many others don't plan on switching but don't also oppose 4E. I'd bet it's bigger group than one might imagine.

Well I just recently had all of my 3.x books stolen, so now there is no reason for me not to switch.

I'm pretty strongly disaffected towards 4E ... and yet, I still browse the boards, and make occasional posts.

What keeps me coming back to ENWorld is that it's my best source of roleplaying, and especially D&D information, and I have a longtime interest in roleplaying.

What keeps me coming to the 4E forums in particular is a huge desire for any information about 4E, including both the releases from WoTC, and to read the views of the other posters. To a certain degree, I'm looking for validation of my viewpoint.

Thx!

For me, I'm still looking for something to change my mind. I really really want to change my mind.

Me too, but so far it doesn't look like that's going to happen. When I bitch about things I don't like, it's in the (admittedly feeble) hope that something will get changed before it hits shelves.

A better question is why are all the people here who have already decided and whom will purchase 4e if it's printed on human skin. They somehow feel the need to defend every single criticism of 4e, as if someone had just slapped their wife and called their children names.

On the other hand, people switching to 4e may be unloading their 3.E books cheaply.

You have clearly been targeted by the WotC Game Police. A buddy of mine recently discovered that his 3.5 PPHB has gone missing too.

"Well it's not like the WotC Game Police are going to come to your house and take your 3.5 boks away from you, is it?" people said. Turns out they were wrong!!!

(Seriously, though, sorry to hear about the theft! Really crappy.)

Oh, and why am I coming here? Mainly out of a misplaced sense of whimsy. And for the hot chicks.

The amusing thing is the relationship posters have between defense of 3.5 and 4e. It seems to me that a great many of the folks who are vehement about accepting no criticism of 4e were also vehement about accepting no criticism about 3e.

There's a lot of 3e that I needed to houserule. I cannot imagine 4e would be any better in this regard. Just different as to what needs fixing.
