Why do girls get to have all the fun??

One thing about Jordans writing: He writes from his character's viewpoints, and the characters certainly believe that "all men" or "
all women" behave in certain ways.

Yeah, but the problem is that it "works". That is to say the characters' skewed perspectives on what all men and all women do in fact translates to the reality of the story.

Furthermore, all of the characters share the same notions, or if they don't, they're learning that those notions are correct.

I'm surprised that no one has brought up the BDSM undertone of the last several novels. In at least two couples that I can think of physical punishment, restraint, or mental control/compulsion were treated as attractive things by the female in the couple.

Not that that's something that offends me :), but I thought for sure someone else's panties would be in a twist.

I'm male. I've played mostly male charecters. I have played one female charecter in a Star Wars d20. It was fun, and I would play a female again. The only weird part I found was in charecter one of the other players (who was male and playing a male PC) was hitting on my charecter, so I was doing it back. In charecter, it made sense. Out of charecter, it was weird, but still funny.

Sorta like:

IC
"Nice shoes wanna... go to my room?"
"Sure hon, anything to get inside your p..... room"

OC
"um, .... HAHAHA"

You wanna talk about a fantasy author with... interesting... gender roles in fantasy fiction? What about John Norman's "Gor" books? From what I've seen it's quite dominant/submissive. Apparently, the lifestyle of these books has got quite a cult following.

I tried reading one and I couldn't deal with it. But I'm not going to judge.

Jordan and his bizarre gender roles...

I mean, the man lost all credibility when he segued from a collection of strong, independent women to "We all love you, but we have no jealousy or possessiveness over it at all and are happy to share you. Now please have sex with each of us at your leisure."

Can you say, "Vicarious fantasy" ?

It's all so true...

Especially with the thing between Mat and Tylin, how weird is that?

Has anyone gotten those couple paragraphs near the end of a winter's heart where mat is escaping with the daughter of the nine moons and he says he going to marry her. I really didn't get that part at all:confused:

There was a prophecy that he would marry the daughter of the nine moons back when he went to Rhuidean (sp?).

I know, but he says, "I'm going to marry her," or something like that, and then all the people say something like "well, it doesn't matter what has been prophecised"

I knew about the profecy...
