You and Ben Riggs need to get your data stories straight then. Because mathematically, 1.6 M vs. 3.5 M is pretty straightforward.
We've all been through this rigmarole before, and we've all delt with unclear appeals to authority. It is not our job to sort through another 250 page thread to figure out where you are getting your numbers, or what numbers they actually are.

What are the two things you are comparing, and where are they referenced?

Only then can your audience can decide if they are in fact the same thing and determine if you've shown your point or not. Elsewise, you're just shouting into the wind.

You really think that twitter image is going to be timeless? It was already dated before it was posted.

That twitter image isn't in the game.

That twitter image was about selling merchandise for charity, to fund hotlines to help people in crisis.

Thinking players might want to help out others... is weird and niche?

'Cuz otherwise, you have dodged the question - what about the game is weird and niche now?

The 1.6 million is just the BookScan-handled sales. And Ben Riggs clearly points out that's merely a floor for what 5e sales would be considering only about 50% of his own book sales are captured by BookScan.
and unlike Ben's TSR data, BookScan is only the US and Canada. It ignores that in 2025 60% of D&D is purchased digitally too.

Additionally, the 5e data quoted there is three+ years old and doesn't include any starter sets.
