I subsribe to neither, but am much more likely to buy (current or back issue) and enjoy Dungeon than Dragon--but Dragon is supposed to be getting better.

That is one thing: over the decades, the quality of both have varried greatly.

If you are looking for ideas and inspiration (more so then 3.0/3.5 crunch) there is a Dragon CDRom that covers the best, early years. Due to issues with copyright it is a little hard to find...but can be a great resource.

I would say the orange is better than the apple.
I agree. Apple start to "brown" due to oxidation which is unsightly to want to sink your teeth in.

On-Topic...

As soon as Paizo dropped Poly out, I dropped Dungeon. Dragon remains my only gaming magazine.

Only ever read a few issues of Dungeon; cancelled my subscription to Dragon.

Neither one was particularly useful for any of the campaigns I have ever run, but I know I am in a minority this way. ;) Part of the reason for this is I am an entirely homebrew kinda guy. I didn't need more PrCs (had too many), didn't need articles on rules minutiae, didn't like most of the pre-made adventures, didn't care about Forgotten Realms/Eberron/Greyhawk, etc., so in the end the magazines had little to offer me beside the cartoons.

Most people I know, however, who have looked at the magazines far prefer Dungeon simply for the pre-made adventures. :)
