Wil fighters have a Berserker talent tree?

I think there will be a rage feat, but its not enough. Sure we know the barbarian is due for a later supp; but I still think the fighter should have a Berserker talent tree, to represent a different and more focused type of raging, rather than just frothing and biting pp'ls body parts off.

A Berserker talent tree could also make him more resistent to damage, making him able to stand on the front-line longer.

I'd say it is a possibility, but I assume that "Berserking" will be more reserved for the Barbarian class (if that's how it will be called then)

NO.

We are pretty sure a barbarian will be part of PHB II in 2009. They may draw there power from "nature" (whatever that means). This forthcoming barbarian will have rage.

I am not saying its a bad idea. Just saying they will want to leave "space" for the barbarian, and its not going to happen.

Edit: Like MR said...

And unless raging in combat actually stops a fighter from using his normal class abilities, everyone and his brother will spend the feat (or whatever) to take a single barbarian class ability - the rage itself. This is basically the same as many fighters actually being Brb 1/Fighter X in 3e, just for the rage and fast movement.

I'd really, really prefer to see the Fighter gain a "Berserker" talent tree and just scrap the Barbarian all together, but I think it's pretty clear at this point that WotC ain't gonna do that. Most people like classes to define roles and flavor for them. Customization perverts like me will have to wait for the True20-ish 4e variants that will hopefully emerge.

I thought we already knew the fighter trees were defense, assault and control. (Sword and board, two hander, and tripping, disarming, etc, respectively)

But, it does sound like there will be "training": picking up some of another class's features via a feat without going into full-blown multiclassing. Seems like an additional level of customization to me already built in.

Sir B, good point, but we don't know what "training" means at this stage.

Can a fighter take "barbarian training" for a rage talent tree? It may be a while before we know.
