Wild Shape duration??

How long can a druid remain in a wildshape? MotW says they may assume a shape once per day.. but it doesn't seem to stipulate that they change back. So, could, technically, a druid ALWAYS remain in a wild shape?

Until the fleas become too much to handle.

wild shape is described as working (with exceptions, like restrictions on the form) like polymorph self.

So, its duration would be that of polymorph self, 1 hour per level.

Not like Poly self anymore... Masters of the WIld is nice about things like that.

I rule it like a lycanthrope, perm until you change back or you die.

If the version in MotW isn't intended to reference Polymorph self (I noticed it didn't mention the spell as well), then is wild shape no longer limited by the druid's hit dice?

I don't think there is text in there saying you are limited to shapes with your HD or less....

I didn't see anything in that part of MotW claiming to be errata. It mostly just seemed to repeat the text of polymorph self, for no reason I could think of other than somebody needing to pad their page count.

Was there an erratum there that I missed?

There was a ton of erratum you missed...or at least a few very important ones.

For one thing it gives the wildshaping character all the animal's extraordinary abilities, which polymorph doesn.

For another, you get the animal's attack routine....including its # attacks per round, whereas polymorph prohibits this.

Those are the major ones that I recall without having the text in front of me.

As I mentioned earlier, I recall that the description also skips any mention of a HD limit for the forms assumed.....I wonder if that was mistake or on purpose.

It does point out that the 16 HD dire tiger is available as an option at 15th level.

I had not noticed that no mention of duration was given. I guess it really doesn't make a big difference. After a few level you can stay in wild form all the time anyway....

Changing back to talk or something is probably a bigger factor than duration.

IMC, since the Shifter has a HD restriction, I gave the same restriction to normal druids, no reason why they should get a benefit a shifter doesn't.
