I genuinely believe the Xanathar's trap format was designed so software could see if you could use all the keywords required in that format and easily cull a bunch of non-conforming entries without a human having to look through each individually.

(That said, I actually liked the format, although I was completely unfamiliar with it before I sat down to do my entry -- I've got such a backlog of stuff to read.)

I like the format, just wish they provided more examples: a more fulsome Grimtooh-style trap "bestiary."

Hiya!

"No". I already voiced my concerns when the announcement first went out (and still have some of the singing around my eyebrows and beard... ;) ).

As for the "live DM'ing part". I'd be fired half way through the first session! Not for being a "Bad DM"...but for saying "badwrongthings" or something similar.

So...pass and pass.

I'll let some other person destroy their life for the bottom line of WotC, thanks.

If WotC is vetting these finalists (and honestly, they should be), I wonder if the company name will show up on the "people who looked at your profile" page at LinkedIn. (Quick, everyone! Try to remember your LinkedIn password!)

Based on the schedule for D&D Live, I'm guessing the Friday (July 16) DM Showdown at 10:30 pm Eastern Time is when we'll learn about the 10 finalists selected for the DM's Challenge.

I mean, I assume they're going to email the winners ahead of time to warn them too.

I imagine you're right, but I've been trying to imagine what format they'll reveal them in - they gave it a full half hour timeslot.

I haven't watched one of these events before and don't have (and am not interested in downloading) Peacock. Is this going to be on Twitch or YouTube or both or additional channels? (Some streamers do Twitch + YouTube + Facebook nowadays and cover all the bases.)

The answer, as far as I can tell, is "all of the above".

They were in previous years, but that was without WotC having a major media production partner, just Greg Tito making things happen.

Yes, this was posted in a separate tweet or Facebook post, or both, that I saw a day or two ago.

Edit:

And it will be on Peacock, and on both the Twitch and Youtube channels of both G4TV and D&D.
