I estimate maybe 20 convention / online games a year with strangers over 30 or so years, so a potential 600 or so. A few recalled me and I recalled them, but well under 5%, so, say 550+

60+ but it makes me wonder what that number would be if I hadn't drifted away from rpgs from my late teens to mid 40's. Another military brat here, so I moved a lot and had to find new groups, which was not particularly easy during the Satanic Panic.

Before 1990, less than a dozen. I played with a group at school and also with one at home, occasionally.

Before 2000, less than twenty. I joined the Gaming Society at University and settled with a group that saw me through all three years.

Before 2010, I started to freelance write and attend a few conventions, so I probably doubled again to around 40.

After 2010, I attended every UK Games Expo and Dragonmeet, before adding all the Garrison conventions and getting my own ongoing gaming group organised. Right now, I'd say far beyond 300 different people. Far beyond.

Between being ex-military, being in an average of 2 to 3 game per week (some times up to 5), I have played a lot. Lot of the games did not last past six months. Taking that means 6 characters per year for over 30 years. So over 300. Most I don't remember as the games are not worth remembering.
