EDIT: Did anyone notice that the list refers to an adventure titled Anauroch: The Sundering of the World, but when you click on it, the subtitle on the cover image is Anauroch: The Empire of Shade?
I noticed. Might be keen to agree with Sammael.

cheers,

Actually, they're not, although they have the same author. Check the descriptions. :)

It's the description that actually made me think they are the same... I thought that Exemplar of Evil was the first draft:

"a book about creating BBEG of different levels, with 9 examples including stats, adv seeds, camp hooks, minions and lair"

And that later the development had resulted in more focus on the ready examples than the creation guidelines, and also in mostly high-level BBEG, hence:

"a book about creating BBEG of different high levels, with 9 examples including stats, adv seeds, camp hooks, minions and lair"

They're both hardcover, same page count, same price, same author. The second is due only 3 months before (a delay of the early schedule?). One of them doesn't have the cover...

At least someone could suspect :p it's strange for WotC to publish two similar books within 3 months only... But you're an insider so you know better what's going on there.

Elder Evils said:
Elder Evils provides DMs with truly wicked threats to challenge high-level heroes. Each "elder evil" described in this nightmarish tome comes with a detailed description, stat blocks for the elder evil and its minions, tips for how to incorporate the elder evil into any D&D campaign, adventure seeds, and maps of the elder evil's lair (complete with encounters and room descriptions). The book also provides guidelines to help DMs create their own unique elder evils as worthy campaign villains and endgame encounters.

Exemplars of Evil said:
The Exemplars of Evil supplement shows Dungeon Masters how to construct memorable campaign villains and presents nine ready-to-play villains of various levels that can be easily incorporated into any D&D campaign. Each villainous entry provides complete statistics for the villain (or villains), as well as adventure seeds, campaign hooks, pregenerated minions, and a fully detailed lair.

I think it would be very interesting if books like Exemplars of Evil and Elder Evils presented at least some "classic" figures - like Emirikol the Chaotic! Ho ho ho.

Seriously, though. In D&D's storied history there are many villains who could be revamped for the new edition.

Wow, not much for my gaming buck this year.

I will get
Complete Champion
Expedition to Castle Greyhawk

I might get
The other two expeditions

The rest just do not look interesting to me at all. The secrets of a part-time sorceress is an ACCESSORY? Not only will I not get that one, I'll be burning any copies I see. What is the need for this? Just google Girl or 'gurl' gamer and you'll get more than you can read in a month.

I confess myself underwhelmed, at first glance. Oh well, good for the wallet I suppose...
I'm pretty much overwhelmed, and my wallet is going to suffer.

I have Dungeon Tiles III, Dungeonscape and Complete Scoundrel on order from Amazon.

I'm waiting for Secrets of Sarlonna to make it to my FLGs before deciding. I don't do Eberron, but this one looks interesting.

I will be buying one (1) unhallowed booster and Tiles IV.

I'll probably end up with Monster Manual V (I'm a sucker for monster books, and I must admit I though IV was ok)

I'll get the two rules compendiums and the three expeditions.

I'll get Complete Champion.

I'll also probably get Fortress of the Yuan-Ti since it has Yuan-Ti in it and Ari wrote it.

I see one or two certain purchases (Complete Champion and Magic Item Compendium) and one or two possible purchases (Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk and Rules Compendium). While I'm interested to see what these and a few other books may contain, they mostly appear to be collections/updates of previously released materials. Nothing terribly exciting, but good to see. Needless to say, it'll be rather amazing to see any hardcover book with "Greyhawk" printed on the cover.
