Wizards to sell naming rights to D&D spells -- will YOU buy?

The problem would be in getting the right name. Anyone who knew Francis Greenleaf the bard would know that the spell I spent my money on (Francis' Fabrication) did not have anything to do with building materials, but was Undetectable Lie...

Too late, all! I've already purchased the rights to replace my name with every instance of the word "Heward." From now on, it will be every adventurer who uses a "Henry's Handy Haversack," and the rare lucky grognard adventurer will get a chance to play on "Henry's Mystical Organ." I'm so proud!

I'm giving first dibs to my wife to play on Henry's Mystical Organ, of course.

Hmm. I had not thought of magic items. But that would be even better. Sinistar's Staff of Striking. Or Sinistar's Sword of Speed. (alliteration is a must!)...

Of course, I think the bidding war would get outrageous on the Apparatus of Sinistar...

So what do you think about Wizards of the Coast's idea to sell naming rights for spells in the D&D game system? The way I understand it is that for a "reasonable" contribution (to the WotC coffer), you'll be able to have one of the newly unnamed spells renamed in your honor. -- Mordenkainen's Sword, for example, could become Nutkin's Sword, or Bigby's 'hand' spell series could include Bugaboo's Grasping Fist (or whatever).

I'd pay to have an official spell called "Lizard's Black Tentacles".

I couldn't pay over $1000 myself. My players just don't pay me enough.
Well, Wicht, the problem is that you give your Story Hour away for free. I can appreciate the fact that it probably serves as good PR and a tax shelter, but you really need that revenue too if you want to get to the ranks of the Ten Richest DMs.

I, of course, have a spell named after me already. :D

Still, I might buy another and have it renamed to "broken harm." ;)
