D&D 5E WizKids ToD mini issue

My son has been begging for some new minis but the booster sets are $16 so I often say "No". But yesterday for his birthday we went and picked up a Tyranny of Dragons booster. He was psyched.

So he opens it up at home and we discover that one is missing an arm:

Along with the black shadow dragon that came along with it (awesome) this lil guy is his favorite. But the arm is gone and he was disappointed. But being one he really likes I could tell he was just trying to convince himself to like it with just the one arm (oh to have his indomitable spirit). Anyway, he might try to justify it but I really want to fix this problem. If you're going to make us buy your minis sight unseen, at the very least give us one that has all it's appendages!

Here's what I was thinking. He already loves what he has from the booster. If we take it back to the store to replace it, I seriously doubt they're going to tear through each box just to find the one little guy, much less find all the ones he has from this particular booster. (Heck, I don't even know if they'd take these back in the first place now that the box has been opened, etc. They're not the most friendly of your FLGS). So I figured I'd contact WizKids directly. But I didn't find exactly how to contact them via their site for such a problem as this (perhaps I simply missed it?). So I sent them a facebook message with the pic. Do you think that is enough, or do any of you know a better way to contact them for a problem like this? What would you do?

If they're anything like Wizards/Hasbro they will want to fix this, and be glad of the publicity afterward.

Mega Bloks are also very good with replacing missing/broken pieces.

WizKids is pretty good at replacing broken and defective minis. Contact them right away and they can hook you up with a fix.
Then post and let us know how it went.

Unfortunately, WizKids is nothing like Wizards, FFG, or most other gaming companies. Their customer service is not good.

I hope it works in this case.

Cheers!

The "Sun Elf Guard" is $1.50 on ebay, if all else fails, you could probably pick up that specific mini fairly easily.

Thanks for the info folks. They contacted me back via facebook and directed me to a page where i had to sign into their website. Once I did that they had me select the miniature with the issue and print off a custom packing slip. I have like 90 days to send it out and haven't done so just yet. But the process looks as if I will send out the armless elf along with the custom packing slip and they should have a new one sent in a few weeks.

On one hand it does seem rather like a pain to go through just for a $1.50 mini, but in some ways I would really like for them to fix their own problem. Not only does that build rapport with their customers, but it also hopefully points out a problem that might have otherwise gone unnoticed.

To be honest I am going to be a little sad that I have to send ol' one arm back.

Yeah, that figure was kinda begging to have an extra arm from a WH 40K sprue glued onto it. :p

Still, you'll get the one you wanted and that your son likes once all is said and done.

So sent along the packing slip and the armless elf a while back and the other day received a new elf with both arms firmly attached. My son was satisfied which, honestly, is really what I was wanting in the first place, but while their system was effective, I was kind of bugged by it really. They made me sign in to a system I could care less about just to print off a packing slip and paid for postage (paid more for the envelope/shipping than I would have just to buy the elf individually...). It just seemed to be way too much of a hassle. Also, on the packing slip they were pretty clear that there was no guarantee that they could replace the same miniature, which wasn't reassuring. Overall, no huge deal, but unless you're trying to make your kid happy, I'd say don't bother jacking with all the hoops. It felt a bit like I was paying for fixing their own mistake.
