[World of Warcraft] How's it running on your Mac?

I've got a 12" G4 1.2ghz iBook with a 32mb Radeon 9200 video card that I want to play World of Warcraft on. If I upgrade my RAM to 512mb, I should be fine according to the system requirments, but I want to make sure that it's running okay on other people's systems before I spend $150 on this game ($100 for 256mb of RAM, $50 for the game).

If someone has a similar system and is playing the game, please let me know how smoothly it runs.

Oh, and if someone in the Chicago area has a Collector's Edition gamepass they aren't using and wants to hook a gamer up...

Well, I don't have any experience running the game, but the weakest point on your system is definitely the video card. I think the Radeon 9200 you've got is probably about the miminum card to have it really work decently. However, you will probably have to turn off most of the eye candy/run at minimum resolutions.

Also do your self a favor and upgrade to more than 512mb if possible. I'm guess that you've got 256mb currently. Drop a 512mb in there instead of another 256mb. Minimum system requirements are usually best interpreted as "If you want it to do anything at all". I use a 50% more than minimum rule of thumb if you want things to work smoothly.

Check prices on www.Pricewatch.com. Your PBG4 doesn't require mac specific memory, just make sure its the right speed and form factor. Check your manual, but I'm fairly certain that you need PC2100 DDR in a SO-DIMM module. Faster memory is almost always okay as well.

I've bought stuff from NewEgg so I can recomend them. $81

Or Try poking around on OWC - They are a bit more expensive ($95), but solidly mac people.

Just an FYI...

I have a...
1.25GHz G4 aluminum PowerBook
768MB ram
64MB ATI Radeon 9600 Mobile graphics

I would say that it plays okay... It's a bit stuttery, and I have to turn all the graphics down. But, it's on on a Mac, and it's on a laptop so I cut it a lot of slack... It's great to be able to play the game while I am on the road for work!!!

That being said, I have the following configuration at home...
2.6GHz P4
1GB ram
128MB GeForce Ti6400?

And there is no contest. It looks way better, and plays way smoother (which should not be a suprise, since my PC desktop has nearly double the power of the Mac in each category)...

In any case, I cannot thank Blizzard enough for making a Mac version of WoW; making it fully compatable with the PC version; and releasing them simultaneously!!! I love you guys!!!
:D
