Does no one care how quickly Pax East is being depopulated?

Not really. Even if the event is cancelled, the companies that would have announced things there will just release the stuff online.

I'd rather have them stay home than potentially get someone sick, as the companies say people's safety matters more than a measly conference.

I don't think it's going to be cancelled, I mean at the very least Swen and Larian Studios will be there. It appears to be mostly Asian companies so far, which is very unfair and unfortunate.

But I choose to seize upon the silver lining to this very dark cloud more time for BG3!

Even if Pax gets tanked and the BG3 event cancelled, I try to keep it in perspective. Lots of people affected by the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak (jeez that name makes it sound like a Shadowrun adventure hook) far worse than not getting to see their videogame as soon.

I mean, I definitely am excited about the game! And I hope the event doesn't get cancelled, that would be a bummer. But it's just a minor hype event, the real thing will be how good the game is, and I haven't seen anything saying that the game itself will be affected.

I agree 100% but I still maintain that it's no where near wide spread enough in the area to justify cancelling it, one person in the area was found with it and that is it.

I believe there are 200 cases across South Korea and two have died.

That is extremely sad, and I look forward to a cure and vaccine 110% and I'm looking into making a donation, but Pax East is not in South Korea.

Wait is Pax East in Boston??? Now I'm really confused...

I suppose it's because these companies are Japanese, and Japan has had 105 cases (not including the 650 on a cruise ship there). But this is still kind of weird honestly, the US barely has any cases...

Also no idea why I just assumed the event was in South Korea...

On the one hand, I agree with you. I think that the media is having a grand old time whipping up hysteria about the outbreak, and that it isn't the world-toppling pandemic that some people have been led to believe.

I also think that I'm not personally going to the event, or planning it, or responsible for the safety of any of the people who would be sent to it. If the people directly involved feel that it's better to be cautious than blase, maybe even overcautious, I'm not going to be the armchair epidemiologist and complain about them making a decision on safety that doesn't actually affect me.

I mean I was supposed to visit my grandparents in Taiwan in 2 weeks, and I've postponed that indefinitely, so I'm also not one to throw stones. Part of my decision was based on an abundance of caution, part of it was actually because my grandparents didn't want me around while the epidemic was still uncertainly contained. So maybe I, to, am being irrational, I'll cop to that. But I also want everyone to be safe and to feel safe, so I have empathy for the tough decisions everyone is having to make.
