Doesn’t mean all our old OGL back catalogues and revenue streams are secure, or still not under a Sword of Damocles.
They can't remove your right to publish things you've already published. They were allowed under the agreement at the time of publication. No matter what they did that would always be true.

no it wouldn’t, there is no guarantee for that. Plenty of stuff can no longer be sold because the publisher no longer has the license for it.

In cases when the license is owned until a specific date, yes.

That's irrelevant in this scenario.

The only danger was for works going forward, not backwards.

It looks like this invite is generating a backlash. That seems to be growing.
Says who?

The only reason I've even heard of this is from this thread. I'm hardly well connected, is there a Twitter outrage storm going on?

Also, there may be more authors and such invited beyond YouTubers and they just haven't said anything yet. Who has said they have an invite beyond Bob?

I personally don't see this as wining and dining them, I view it more as a press conference for a very broke kind of press who couldn't afford to attention without help.

I'll concider it wining and dining when when influencers get WotC as paid sponsors, then I'd be concerned.

This is just a press conference.

Ginny Di, Tanya DePass (CypherofTyr), Omega Jones (CriticalBard), and BrettUltimus are the ones I've seen.

I crit!
Teos talks a bit about the backlash.

who is linda?
They were the absolute best journalist at covering the OGL leaks and walkback. Real journalism, real editors and care for the subject.

On this she's not wrong. Journalists (which in ttrpgs is basically just Linda, Charlie Hall and Christian Hoffer) don't belong at a Creators Summit. They both should get different access tho

Advertising expenses only serve the customer who does not know the brand and has not tried the product for the first time. But then the key to maintaining the prestige of the brand is customer satisfaction, bigger than the ones by rival companies.

It is like a Hollywood studio using an old but famous franchise. This doesn't matter if after the product is not good. Or I loved a videogame but I stopped because I couldn't by fault of too many bugs, and then I started to play other, losing the previous interest in the previous.

Okay, I've heard of Ginny, although I think through a different angle. She's a big cosplayer, costume designer?

We'll see what happens late April, I guess?

Thinking about it, WotC could do worse than the Med Rep style of advertising. As far as writers go, who's printed a hardback in the past 18 months? I would think they would get an invite, too. If the VTT is the "new hotness" that they will be promoting, they'll want major authors or publishers to be involved. They will want harmony with new adventures having assets on the VTT. This might otherwise include Baur and other like him, but a number said they would develop their own line. I wonder if Goodman received an invite.

It's not an event for people who create rules sets and other supplements. It's for people who create using the game.

To put it in an ENWorld perspective. It's for the type of people who publish to ENWorld.com not the people who publish to EN World Publishing's various products.
