The console market is tricky at best. X-Box is really popular, but Microsoft has lost millions of dollars on the unit. It's also true that GBA is Nintendo's cash-cow. It milked the original Game Boy for nearly 20 years. I can't think of any other game console that came close (I was a fan of Game Gear myself).

Well, you have to realize that consoles are usually sold at a loss, especially by Nintendo.

Nintendo(don't know about sony) is the only manufacturer that makes money off thier consoles. Its a well known fact. Obviously they make a lot more money on game sales but they make money off the sales off thier consoles. I don't know if they still do at the $99 price point tho.

Nintendo and microsoft trade spots generally. Nintendo kills xbox in japan, while xbox kills gc in North america.

Honestly the only reason i see the xbox succeeding(i have one) is the fact that you can mod it.
