Are they that bored at WOTC?

Anyone with 10 seconds and a calculator can do the conversions themself. There are about 100 things more useful that they could have posted.

"OMG!!! WotC posted something at their site that isn't of immediate use to me!!! Teh suxx0rz!!!" :D

Rules of the Game has been an EXCELLENT column so far; probably one of the best they've done. So this one wasn't spectacular. It's okay.

And it's not just a straight conversion. It simply bases everything on coverting to 2m squares, which, if you've never played SWd20, you may not have thought of. At the very least, it's nice to have someone do the work for you. :)

Well I enjoyed it... but it's too much trouble now to change an ongoing campaign metrics, we're used to talking in "feet" now =\

Bwahahahahaha! Wizards is the emisary of the Imperial measurement system. Slowly, it will reclaim the world!

Quick! How many cups equals a gallon? Bzzzzzzzzt. To late, thanks for playing. You will now be fed to the Slaad. :]

I don't mind the articles about stuff I don't intend to use. There are plenty of adventures and maps that they post that I don't use. But at least they are interesting.

But.....metric conversion?

It's not that I really care anyway. Didn't ruin my day or anything, I just thought it was strange and more than a little unnecessary.

I'm kind of offended that they saied "english" (rather then imperial) measurements as though we are archaic! Even indirectly.

The US is one of the few remaining holdouts for the imperial system. Most other countries use the metric system.

And since D&D is sold worldwide (the proof being the diverse locations for people on these very message boards), it makes sense to do a conversion article.

Granted, most people (at least in Canada) who use the metric system can easily convert without need for a conversion article. But perhaps the article will be of benefit to someone in a country is which all they know is the metric system.

Not useless, even if it is not useful to you.

Whats a cal-culator? Can you eat it?

The big deal is 'the conversion' why covert just use the system and have done with it, it is one of those things people spend time doing the math when they don't have to. :D
