whats so wrong with 3.5. it suits all of my needs. Bsides the brand is runing strong why messs with success this isnt stickin it to gygax like 2e or the deasth of TSR like 3E .3.5 was an adjusmen and i see them releasing a new adjustment before a new edition

I would point out a couple things relating to Gen Con and 4E:

1) If Wizards is actually putting in additional work more than a month ahead, then this is not the norm. I've been to their seminars and they have seemed thrown together over the last few years.
2) If they're NOT announcing plans for a fourth edition, that "Secrets of the Forgotten Realms" seminar is going to be pretty boring. "In a year we're going to release another book." I doubt that. Even the <damn> Eberron seminar won't have many new products to talk about.
3) The "Secrets of D&D" seminar is the third one they're doing and it is only preceded by the minis seminar and "Female Gamers and D&D" (which seems to mostly be about the "Confessions of a Part-time Sorceress" product etc.). These don't get in the way for a seminar tailored toward announcing 4E.

Just speculation. August shall be interesting.

Announcement at D&D XP for release of new system for fall 2008.

1 $40 core book, ~384 pages, lots of glossy art. Like SWSE, strong integration of existing mini line.
Digitial Inititiative will have been online for a month or two at this point, ready to greet all the new subscribers. Much additional crunch will be at the DI, including updates of several popular 3.5 products.
Releases of new books will be tightly integrated with new mini releases. Books will be a combination of adventures/some new crunch. High production values, lots of art will be the trend, although fewer overall books will be released.
Updated Forgotten Realms and Eberron will be early releases after the 4e core.
A large majority of new crunch and fluff, such as the Mind's Eye and Dragonshard articles currently on the Wizards site, will be the main attraction of the DI.
