Would you allow this?

If you were my DM, and I wanted to take a Factotum into the Chameleon PrC, but I thought taking the Able Learner feat was a redundant waste of time, would you permit the Jack of All Trades feat from Complete Adventurer, p.110 as an acceptable replacement?

I'll be tossing this suggestion by my DM, but wanted to feel it out here.

What exactly is Jack of all Trades doing for you? That's the one that gives you an effective half rank in all skills so you can use them "untrained," right? Factotum already gets all skills as class skills, and Able Learner covers you once you leave. Is it really so hard to just drop a rank in all the trained skills?

I'd allow this, but it seems like a really bad deal for you.

Or Illumian, or Mongrelfolk, or... but yeah, I get your point. I wish Able Learner were for any race, humans don't exactly need the help attracting people outside of Faerun.

Thanks for the input.

It's a simple matter of Able Learner does NOTHING for the Factotum, while Jack Of All Trades is a tiny amount of something, freeing up a handful of skillpoints, while still maintaining the flavor of the prereq and the flavor of the PrC, IMHO. I just wanted to pick a few other brains to see if I wasn't out of line.

I'm some form of Purist, having serious issues with deviating from RAW in most cases.

Actually, Able Learner is great if you leave the Factotum class, as the Chameleon's class skill list is not that great.
