Simple question. If WotC finally decides to upgrade Dark Sun to 5e, how likely would you be to buy that setting book? For the purpose of this poll, let's assume this book follows the same structure as the other 5e setting books, such as Eberron: a mix of players options (possibly some of them psionic), setting lore, rule options and new monsters.

Had to pick "Probably no, unless WotC..." because "No, I dislike Dark Sun" is too harsh.

The real answer though is: "No, because Dark Sun isn't that interesting for me to drop whatever campaign I happen to be running". Which is usually Greyhawk or Homebrew. Dark Sun, at this point, has to compete with other settings that are already out there: Wildemount, FR, Midgard, etc. for my time and money. Unfortunately.

"Compared to what" is an issue with this poll. Would I by a Dark Sun book before a Dragonlance book? Certainly. Would I buy a Dark Sun book before a Planescape book? Probably not.

But I agree that I simply don't have time to run more than one setting, making it hard to justify buying any setting book I'm not likely to use any time soon.

I believe the Which three topics do you most want to receive official (WotC) treatment? thread already does a good job on comparing options.
This thread is more about Dark Sun, specifically. If WotC announces a DS setting book tomorrow, coming next year, what's our genuine reaction?

I voted 'No', although not because I dislike Dark Sun. I have no like or dislike towards the settings, I'm just not interested in it. And I'm one of those players who consider psionics and spells that are mental magic to be essentially the same thing, so have no need for any psionics mechanics either if/when Dark Sun produces some.

I would, but rather than a setting book I would prefer an AP set there a la Curse of Strahd/Ravenloft, Out of the Abyss/Underdark, Tomb of Annihilation/Chult, and BG:DiA/Avernus.

Whilst I like Dark Sun, I'm not sure it would work that well with 5e rules. I think possibly a clean setting using the key elements of Dark Sun might work better. And I would replace psionics with mutations.

NB, as far as I'm concerned, 2e Dark Sun is the One True Dark Sun.

Compared with other settings, that isn't really an option. Dark Sun differs significantly from core rules D&D. And that's the whole appeal of the setting. Dark Sun with core rules would be an abomination.
